Please note when we recorded this Carrie Fisher was still alive, she died later that day. Our thoughts are with her family.

This week we are talking about New Years resolutions and the articlewritten for us by Rebecca from A Couple of Kinks.

Digital economies Bill

In the news this week the European Court of Justice stepped in on the Snoopers Charter (RIPA). It turns out councils have been using the powers to spy on people for leaving their bins out, or walking their dogs. Not for counter terrorism which is what is supposed to be for.

Screw you 2016

I think it is fair to say that 2016 has not been the best of years for so many reasons. While every year has it's problems this one seems to be some what special in terms of crappy things happening.

Some especially crappy deaths

  • David Bowie
  • Gene Wilder
  • Alan Rickman
  • George Michael
  • Prince
  • finally now Carried Fished and Liz Smith

That seems to be an especially sad list because these are all people we have both grown up with, they have all contributed to varying extents to our lives.

Crappy politics

It has been an especially sad year for politics with some really terrible situations happening.

  • Donald Trump elected
  • Brexit
  • Digital Economies Bill

Other crappy things

  • Orlando shooting
  • Bombings in Berlin and Brussles
  • The garbage truck incident in Paris.
  • and so many more
  • Zika, Ebola
  • Earthquakes in New Zealand, Italy
  • Gravity Falls ended

New Years resolutions

The end of the year is a chance to look at the year and think about the coming year. You can decide if you want to change things and the new year can be a good time to do it.

Not the only way

Personally we both think that if you do want to change something about yourself then you should it at any time of the year. It isn't something that you should only do at the end of the year.

Making it work

You need to find a way to make it work for you. For some the pressure of doing something big can work. But for others that doesn't work at all.

You need to be realistic in what you can do, and putting a huge amount of pressure on yourself to change and do something bit (like going to the gym every day when you haven't been for 6 months) just isn't going to work.

You need to be realistic about what you can achieve and build yourself up.

Love yourself

You are awesome, this year make a promise to yourself to love yourself just a little bit more. For some it can be very hard, but learning to love who you are can change your life.

Merry Christmas! This week we are talking about Kink at Christmas based on this weeks blog post written for us by Victoria Blisse.

Dark edge to Christmas

I don't know if it is a English thing but do you find there is a black edge to Christmas. While we both love the giving side of Christmas here in the UK I have always thought there is a darker side to the holiday. Watching a good horror film is something that has to be done during the season.

Turns out this might be a UK thing because it isn't the way things are done in New Zealand. Probably largely because Christmas happens in the middle of summer down there.

London is just right during Christmas

Something special seems to happen in London during the Christmas season, it just seems to be what London was made for.

Alt Burlesque is closing

Perhaps it is a sign of the times but another alternative market is closing. For anyone who doesn't know Alt Burlesque is an event that happens once a month up and down the country where all manner of alternative companies come to show their products. It is a real shame because they have been running for 8 years.

Along with that there are shows throughout the day from pole dancing to burlesque. When we were there we saw the amazing Tickerty Boo doing two of her routines and they were stunning. She has a few of them up on YouTube if you are interested.

It also means you won't be able to see companies like Sequin Showstoppers quite so easily any more.

If you do want to see one before it is gone the very last one will be happening in Manchester in January.

Kinky at Christmas

Being kinky at Christmas isn't always easy, there is so much to get done that it can be do hard to find the time. But if you are of that persuasion it is part of who you are, so while you don't want the family to see it you still want to have fun.

You are not going to break Christmas if you don't get every single thing done. You are allowed to have fun as well. You are allowed to have some time for yourself at Christmas.

Take a bit of a break this Christmas. Have a good time, enjoy your family, but take a little time for you as well.

Find out more about us

This week we are talking about the wonderful article on how socks are sexy written for us by Molly Moore with the delightful Emmeline Peaches.

Who is Emmeline Peaches

Emmeline Peaches is a sex toy reviewer and blogger here in the UK, she writes daily on her blogemmelinepeachesreviews.com or you can find her on twitter.

Not only does she blog but she was also on Channel 4 this year talking about sex toys and got to take a tour around the Bondara factory.

We would just like to say a huge thank you to Emmeline for coming on the show. We are big fans so having her on was a total treat.

Sorry about the audio quality. To be able to record this we had to take a different approach from normal. While it has come out OK there is more work to do.

Rant: Digital Economy Bill

Well the bill was passed into law and now we have a surveillance state like no other. Not only will our government now be able to track every website you visit (regardless of whether they think you have done something or not).

But now they have even more powers to intercept phone calls, email, text messages, instant messages, pretty much anything.

But more importantly they can hack your devices (computers, phones, routers, printers). This requires oversight but not much.

Powers even China and Iran don't have

But something that was snuck into the bill was a section on how they can force companies to open or break their encryptions mechanisms to give the government access to the information they keep.

This is something even the USA hasn't been able to ask for, and something Iran and China can only dream about.

Is it practical, well that is another discussion but the fact is it has been made into law and that is a bad step.

There is a great article by Cory Doctorow in the Guardian on just how insidious it is.

Socks are sexy

There was a study done into the ability for couples to archive orgasm. Something that was found was when they were wearing socks their ability to reach orgasm went from 50% to 80%

The experiment

We were very lucky that Emmeline agreed to do a little experiment.

She is normally a sock wearer when she is in bed so to try out this idea she agreed to go sockless for a week to see what would happen.

More to socks than meets the eye

It turns out there is a lot more to socks than any of us thought there could be. From them looking sexy to being used as a toy for the BDSMers.

Find out more about us

This week we are talking about the article created for use by Molly Moore on 12 gifts for Christmas. This is going to help you decide what you can get someone special this Christmas.

Top 100 Sex Bloggers List

In case you missed it the Top 100 Sex Bloggers list came out (which we happened to sponsor) and it is well worth checking out.

Want to give a special shout out to A Couple of Kinks who we have done some work with, they are a lovely couple and have anamazing blog. Well worth checking out.

How is it scored

Molly has also written a great post on how she put the list together. Who helped out. And how the scoring was actually done. That alone is a good read becuase it shows how much work and effort goes into something like this.

It was amazing how close the scoring was between the top 10, and it was especially close between the top 3.

12 Gifts for this Christmas

It is hard to know what to get someone at Christmas, especially if you want to get them something sexy. This list has a great selection of different ideas that are a little out of the norm but well worth looking at.

There is a huge range of choices on the list, some worth really thinking about are:

  • Ceramic Pleasures - These are hand made custom painted dildos made from ceramic.
  • Idee Du Desir - Hand made wooden toys
  • Outlandish Creations - The most beautiful tea sets defiled with the most outragious words.. delightful.
  • Ruby Glow - Is a very different take on the classic vibrator designed by someone we happen to know Tabitha Rayne.
  • Nippleicious - Very pretty jewlery you wear on your nipples. Totally non-invasive and delightful.
  • Eroticon - A fantastic two day conference for erotic authors and bloggers. This has been so much fun the last couple of years and we are looking forward to being at the next one.

There are even more on the list, so go check it out.

Find out more about us

This week we are talking about 9 sexy reads you should curl up with this winter. Written for us by Molly Moore. You can check out the article and see the fully list of books she recommends you check out.

Rant - Digital Economies Bill

This week the Digital Economies Bill was passed into law here int he UK and it is one of the most disturbing pieces of legislation every to come onto the books here in the UK.

Note at the time of recording it hadn't yet been signed into law, now it has.

It grants the government unpressidented powers to spy on innocent UK citizens. To see a list of every website they visit, hack their computers and phones, break into encryptions, block access to any site, and bring in age verification checks for porn sites.

All in the name of fighting terrorism and protecting the children.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

It sets up a state of affairs China, Russia, or Iran would be very happy with and it is amazing it has managed to slip passed us all with bearly an eye brow raised. Thanks to things like Brexit and Trump we have taken our eye off the ball.

Check out posts written by Girl on the Net and Pandora Blake to see what this really means.

Books for this winter

Checkout the post for a full list of all the sexy books recommended by Molly. There are some great authors in there. As well as some classic books.

One exception we would add if you want something different to read but want some erotica as well is Anaïs Nin. Her subversive stories will leave you with a lot to think about.

Find out more about us

This week we are talking about the article created for us by Molly Moore all about Long Distance Relationships.

But before that

Trump elected

It has to be talked about, it is a significant turning point in American history. It is something we honestly didn't think would happen. While we both find it hard to understand there have been a number of programs exploring who voted for Trump. While it is easy to dismiss them when you listen to why they have voted the way they have I can understand it.

What has happened here with Brexit isn't so far away from what has happened in the US. People have become sick of the established politicians and the lies they say to keep their jobs. They want something different and in the US Trump has presented that option.

It is a unique time in world history, it will be interesting to see what happens.

The lasting legacy... the supreme court

The most worrying part for me isn't the things he might do during his presidency isn't he will do during his time in office. It is the lasting effect he will have on the country through who he puts onto the supreme court. Those will be people who make decisions for the country for 30 years. The wrong person there can reverse some of the progressive decisions the US has made in the last few years.

Long distance relationships

We wanted Molly to write this one because Molly speaks from experience. Molly was moderating a forum. She started a friendship and that slowly turned into a relationship with Michael being in the US. Now they are happily living together here in the UK.

They are hard work, there is no doubt. But it is entirely possible to get to know someone and fall in love and find a way to make it work.

The most important take away for us was if you do have a LDR. When you do finally get the chance to meet you need to stay focused on enjoying the time you have. You mustn't focus on how short the time is.

Enjoy the time you get to spend with them, and plan to spend more time with them.

Little gestures go a long way

Giving little gestures that show you are thinking of the other person go a long way. Sending a hand written letter shows much more care and attention than any email ever could.

Rant of the week: The Kinkly Top 100 List

This last week the Kinkly top 100 list has come out and it has prompted something of a discussion on the value of a list like that. Most notibly from the blogger in the number one spot Dangerious Lilly.

From that she wrote a really interesting article on the value of ranking lists and are they something she wants to support. From there a number of other bloggers have also written their thoughts including Girl on the Net and Emmeline Peaches.

The most amazing part of the discussion is Dangerious Lilly has given her prize money to the Woodhull Conference to enable a couple of bloggers who can't afford to go to make it too the next one.

But on top of that she raises a number of valid points about this sort of competition and does it hurt of hinder the community at large. It is a tough question with points on both sides.

This was especially interesting to us because we are proud to sponsor the Top 100 Sex bloggers list being compiled by Molly from Molly's Daily Kiss. We love her approach because it isn't a popularity contest, it is only judged on the quality of the content. Is it about ranking the community. No it is about recognising who is working hard and who to pay attention too.

To see someone who really only cared about her craft and the people around her checkout Katherine Hepburn's ONLY Academy Awards appearance (she was nominated 11 times, and won 4 times). She wasn't even there to accept an award for herself but to honor her friend. Then see her beat Anne Bancroft, Faye Dunnaway, and Audrey Hepburn all in one go and not even turn up to collect it. Awesome.

Dating apps

Futurama Reference: Don't date robots

This week we are talking about Jilly Boyd's post on Are dating apps the only way?Do dating apps take away the romance of actually meeting someone?

What is the perception of the dating apps, is it to find true love or is it to find someone to shag? Is it really so different from going to a night club to meet someone?

Easy to weed out the idiots

The idiots are out there, the men and women who don't want to know you they just want sex and nothing else. They are out there in real life so it is no wonder they are on the dating apps as well.

The beauty is where in real life they can be hard to spot on apps they usually announce what they want pretty early and you have no worry about just saying no.

Catfishing

One of the problems with a dating app (or any online dating) is you open yourself up to being tricked by the person you are talking too. That is much harder to do when you meet someone face to face.

The anonymity of online interactions makes it much easier to conceal you true identity if you wanted to. It is something to be aware of.

The problem of choice

One of the problems online dating and dating apps has introduced is the problem of choice. Where previously you only had a limited pool of people you could meet now there is an endless stream of potential partners.

So where previously you might have put up with small flaws in someone now you can ditch them because the next person will be perfect.

What do you think?

Do you use dating apps? Do they work for you? What do you like about them? We would love to know.

Find out more about us

This week

This week it is Halloween so how could we not have something spooky on the show? So we are talking about this weeks article called "How spooky can be sexy" written by Victoria Blisse.

Talking to a couple of people about coming onto the podcast, very exciting and didn't ever thing anyone would want to come onto the show.

Did you nominate for the best sex blog?

Did you put in your nomination for the #Top100SexBlogs2016? If not you have missed your chance. You can see the landing page here with all the nomination on it. So many have been put forward it is going to be a huge task to go through them all.

The list will be ready for the beginning of December. Looking forward to that.

A thing for vampires

For me vampires are not sexy, they are terrifying just as they should be. A vampire is not your friend, it is a monster that wants to kill you. All I can think of is a praying mantis.

For those who don't know, this is Rent-A-Ghost

But why does a vampire represent, why is a vampire sexy? A vampire represents pure power, with no limits or restrictions on what it can do a vampire is all the things we are not. Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac so it is hardly a surprise so many are attracted to them.

Buffy is the start of sexy vampires

We think it is fair to say that Buffy the vampire slayer is probably the start of popularising vampires as being sexy. So it probably fair to blame that show for things like Twilight because without it they just wouldn't exist.

Vampires on film

There are of course two legendary actors who have plated Dracula. Bela Legosi and Christopher Lee. But wonderful actors in their own rights. But for me being English no one compares to Mr Lee. He is my Dracula.

Less sexy

Something that is much less sexy is a film called "The house that dripped blood" that stared John Pertwee as a vampire. There is nothing quiet like it. If you love a bad/good classic horror film then go for it. It also happens to star Christopher Lee, Jon Pertwee, and Denholm Elliott. You couldn't ask for a better cast to make a cheesy film.

You can actually watch the whole thing on youtube.

The Dresden Files

Jim Butcher's series of books following Harry Dresden is a wonderful set of stories all about what it's like as a wizard private eye and living in a city with vampires, werewolfs, faries, demons, etc. They are a great read.

Comedy

I do love Armstrong & Miller's old school vampires in the modern world.

Find out more about us

This week we are talking about our article on what it is like writing sex toy reviews. Written by Joanne Summers.

A couple of rants

Before we get started I have a couple of rants I needed to get off my chest.

Women's Chess Championships

This years women's chess championships are due to take place in Iran, a country not exactly praised for its treatment of women. A number of players are calling for a boycott of the event, and they might just have a point.

But it opened up another question which was.. why is there even a women's championship? It's not like chess is a physical sport, the genders can easily compete fairly in this. So not just have a single championship open to all?

Update: There is an interesting take on it and why it is a positive thing in the Guardian as well. There are two sides to this.

New Rocky Horror Show

There is a new version of the Rocky Horror show put out by Fox as a live-ish even last week. While I have only seen a few bits of it, from everything I have seen they have totally missed the mark. Utterly destroying the entire premise of what this show is all about.

Writing sex toy reviews

It was really interesting to get Joanne's take on what it takes for her to create a review. One of the things we love about Joanne is how much effort she puts into her reviews. Not just trying it out once, but trying every toy at least 10 times, taking notes, photographing it, etc.

To make sure she gets everything she can out of that toy to give an honest review.

Cara Sutra is another great blogger/journalist we have worked with in the past and love dearly. She works at this 7 days a week and it is hard work. She wrote a great article on why it is so insulting for a company to ask her to write for free.

Having any blog is hard, doing good reviews is hard. Nothing about this is easy and the ones who do it are great.

Check out this podcast

Find out more about us

Disability and Sexuality

This week we are talking about disability and sexuality based on the article written for us byErryn Embers. We asked Erryn if she would write about it for use because her other half is a wheel chair user and we know she has some very strong and well thought out opinions about it.

Erryn is also a Cam Girl and has written about it for us previously and did a great job.

Sex education

She makes the great point that disability isn't talked about in sex education. It is hard to normalise it if it isn't discussed. This is a huge failing in the education of children because they need to be shown that it is just as normal as anything else.

How does it work

One of the questions she gets a lot is "How does it work"? You would never dreama about asking another couple how do you two have sex, why would you think it is OK to ask about them?

It also doesn't mean one of them has a special attraction to someone with a disability just becuase of their disability. It is totally possible to love someone because of who they are. They are a normal person just like everyone else, they just happen to have challenges.

There is something wrong in society that looks at people who are different as a object that is defined only by that thing. That isn't treating a person with the respect they deserve.

Scopes H.I.D.E. campaign

We spotted this during the parolympics and it is a campaign by scope. But we find it hard to see the funny side in treating adults like children.

We understand what they are trying to say, and of course we totally support it. But for us the humor misses the mark and just comes off a stupid. No one I have ever met would have any problem with someone with a disability in their work place. This sort of behaviour doesn't exist.

Oct 14, 2016

This week we are talking about non-fiction erotica based on the article written for us by Molly Moore. You can check out here web site and see some of her great photography.

Come and say hello

This weekend (Saturday 15th October) we will be at Smut Manchester. Where we are going to be teaching people how to make their own fun things in latex.

Nominate the top 100 sex blogs

Make sure you have nominated your favorite sex blogs. Molly is actually running this years top 100 sex blogs and collecting together all the nominations.

We love it because it isn't based on popularity, only quality. So having a huge following doesn't help you win, you have to good.

Make sure you have nominated your favorites.

Non-erotic fiction

Something that is true about any blog is that doing it consistently is really hard. You would think just writting words would be easy but it really isn't the case. Being consistent is even harder.

Sometime it is really easy to write a post, it just flows out of you like the one I did for EAN magazine. But othertimes it just doesn't want to come. Those are the times it is really hard.

Check out Stephen King's 20 tips for becoming a frighteningly good writter.

Molly on writting

She really started it for herself because she was exploring who she was. It is that personal feel that makes it so successful.

It is the personal and open side that makes it so interesting and fun to read. Because it isn't there to try and sell you something but just tell you who she is.

Being out there isn't always a good thing

You need to decide if you aree OK putting yourself out there because some people are going to use it to put you down.

But that is true no matter what you put out into the world. It just so happens a sex blog is a little more personal and so can be more painful.

It is something you need to think about if you do put yourself out there and make sure you are prepared for it.

Your blog doesn't have to be public

Just because you write a blog it doesn't mean you have to show it too the world, just as you can be totally anonymous if you want to be.

This week we are talking about Feminish and Submission, based on the article written for us byGirl on the Net. Are the two ideas mutually excluisive or are they more compatible than you might think?

Sep 22, 2016

This week we are talking about Female Genital Mutilation, piercings, and the law. This is based on the article we had written for us this week by Trojan Princess.

If you are sensitive to this topic please don't listen to it. We don't go into graphic details but we do understand it can be hard to listen to.

This question came about because there was a lot of news last year about whether it was legal for a woman in the UK to have their genitals pierced. It seems like a strange question but because of the FGM laws there isn't a simple answer.

It turns out that getting a genital piercing is done by about 2% of the UK population (1.2 million people). So it isn't uncommon.

What is FGM and what is the law trying to stop

The UK law is based on the World Health Organisations (WHO) definitions of FGM.

Four types of FGM:

  • Type I: Clitoridectomy: partial or total removal of the clitoris;
  • Type II: Excision: partial or total removal of the clitoris and the labia minora, with or without excision of the labia majora;
  • Type III: Infibulation: narrowing of the virginal opening through the creation of a covering seal:
  • Type IV: Other: all other harmful procedures to the female genitalia for non-medical purposes, e.g. pricking, piercing, incising, scraping and cauterizing the genital area. As you can see Type IV specifically mentions piercing. Bummer for piercing fans.

It is the last type that makes piercing problematic.

Where does it come from

This isn't a normal practice in the UK, and from what I understand it isn't something that is actually carried out in the UK. It really springs from religious ideas of keeping young girls pure in places like Africa and the middle east.

Unfortuately it still goes on now and the biggest problem the UK faces is parents taking their young girls out of the country to have this done to them and then brought back.

The UK law specifically targets people who knowingly allow this to happen or plan it.

The damage

The damage this causes is incredible. Putting aside the horrific pain this causes, both immediate but also for the rest of that girls life.

The mental damage this causes is horrific and will psychologically damage that person for their entire life. Those problems could manifest in many ways and a lot of them very serious.

The law

The law is there to protect these girls from this happening to them. Not only by making it illegal to do it, but also making it illegal to plan it. This law is essential to protecting these girls.

The problem arrises because it the law draws no distinction between a girl being forced into having FGM done too them and someone who chooses to have piercings for cosmetic effect.

In the eyes of the law any piercing of the genitals is classed and FGM. If you do have itk done and end up going to the hospital, the doctors and nurses are duty bound to report those piercings as FGM.

This week we are talking about the UK porn laws, what they are and how they affect you in suprising ways. This is based on our article this week written by Screw Taboo.

Where to start

One of the biggest problems with our laws is that no one can be totally sure what is legal and what isn't until it is judged in a court. That opinion can even change from case to case based on the jury who judges it.

"The law is an ass" - Charles Dickens

So when does something become illegal?

There is a very broard range of things a pair of adults can do together including bondage, breath play, water sports. All these things are perfectly legal until you commit them to film.

Or more worringly until you write about them in some cases. That isn't just writting about them in the form of a story, but writting them in a text message you send from your phone or on Facebook is deemed as publishing them, and that can make them illegal to posses.

It is worth understanding "The obscene publication act comes into effect when something becomes published". Publised in this case means commited to a medium of any kind.

  • Shooting a film on a video camera is publishing
  • Shooting images on your phone is publishing
  • Writting a sexy story in a chat window to a friend is publishing

Corrupting poeple

The of the quesitons is if people are afraid of the public becoming corrupted then why don't half the films out there get taken down by the same law?

"Start from a position of freedom not a position of repression"

One of the most interest aspects of this is how something becomes published (recorded into any form). Imagine you take a pcture with your phone, if you later delete that image but the phone keeps a copy. You can still be prosecuted even if you don't know the phone is keeping it.

Guilty without knowing it

The most scrary part of these laws for us is that you can be guilty of a very serious crime without ever knowing it has happened.

An image in your twitter feed could be breaking the law. You might not even see it come in, you went straight past it. The browser can keep a copy of that image and that can later be used to prosecute you.

Of course we understand why these laws have come about. We just hope that a judge or CPS would be understanding in their approach to prosecuting someone. But they don't have to be understanding.

This week we are talking about the our article called "What is Feminism?". Where Girl on the Net walks us through her thoughts on Feminism, what it means to her, and why if you stand up for equality between the sexes you are a feminist.

This is one of those articles where Andrew wasn't sure if it should be written for us where as Pixie was really interested in Girl on the Nets thoughts.

It's not about being a man hater

This is of course how it is sometimes portrayed on TV, that is what gets ratings and makes for good TV. But that really isn't what it is about and isn't the part you should to focus on.

In many ways we have both been very lucky in that we have both been brought up to believe than men and women can do anything they like. There are no limits on where they can work or what they can do. Even coming from IT backgrounds (which are very male dominated) isn't as chauvinistic as it might appear.

Is "Feminism" a problematic term

This is a discussion we have had on twitter this week since the article came out. While we can see why some people have a problem with the term there is a really good reason why the term "feminism" is important.

When you are in a privilaged position it can be hard to see why other people feel oppressed and hurt by society at large. It is why you must be sensitive to why they want to use that term.

Patriarchal society

Something we don't see is how even our language reinforces the stero types and maintains that male dominance.

When a man sleeps around he is a "real man", when a women does it she is a "slut".

When someone is strong they are manly, when they cry they are a sissy or acting like a girl.

Whether you mean it or not women are portrayed as weak and needing help, even by the language we use. These are not always conscious decision.

The aftershow

As we were wrapping up we started talking about the news and how in France women and being told what they can and can't wear on the beach. Something we just can't understand in a country that values personal liberty.

This week we are talking about food and sex based on this weeks article written for us by Girl on the Net.

Food and sex

"Sploshing" is the term for sex involving food, usually involving a lot of it or something very mucky. But bringing food into the bedroom (or where ever you play) can be a lot of fun.

Today we find out Andrew doesn't like getting mucky.

If you don't want to get food on your bed you can use a fluid proof sheet from Sheets of SanFrancisco.

Chocolate

Turns out I'm not a great fan of painting someone in chocolate, but if you do like chocolate then you can have a lot of fun

Cream

Girl on the Net makes a great point that a little cream is nice, but a mouthful of it isn't sexy at all

Getting an infection

The problem with any food is the sugar in it, once it gets into a body cavity then it can easily cause an infection. Which really isn't something you want.

Ice

Much easier to understand Ice can give you a huge range of options not just the cold feeling but as part of your sensation play to enhance your play. It has the advantage it doesn't leave behind a sticky mess.

Just make sure you don't get a ice cube stuck onto something. Run it through your hand first to give it a layer of water.

Ginger

This can be very painful if it is inserted, but depending on the type of play you are going for that might be just what you are going for.

Other heating oils

Tingle lubs or oils like pepermint can have a very strong heating effect. It can be a lot of fun to play with, but make sure you try it out before you use it. What works perfectly for one person might not work at all (or be painful) for someone else.

This week we are talking about writing your own erotic fiction based on the article created for us by Victoria Blisse. But before we go into that we are talking about what we got up to this last weekend during Sexhibition.

Sexhbition

For anyone who doesn't know sexhibition is an event that happens each year in Manchester. This year it was at a new venue but unfortunatly we got to see even less of it than ever. We were running our flogger workshop.

We have a little moan because if you have ever worked at one of these events you know how much fun it is but it is the hardest you can work over a three day weekend.

On the Saturday there was a lot of latex and lingerie on the cat walk, and the Sunday was a lot more about the kinkier side of things.

We did manage to catch up with a few people

  • Sheets of SanFrancisco who make the most amazing fluid proof sheets.
  • Ju Ju Jezebel - Makes the most beautiful leather and jewlery. They are off on adventures around the world.
  • Jed Phoenix - Makes just stunning military and japanese inspired clothes.
  • Emmerald Barwise - A lovely group of models who came and made floggers. So nice.
  • Charlotte Rose and Colin Chapman - The first lady of sex is a title Charlotte richly deserves for all the hard work she does.
  • Princess Almighty - Who is just the best
  • Bedroom Taboo - Who we have talked too a ton of twitter we finally got to meet :D
  • Pleasure Cardiff - Does actually listen to the podcast and is always so lovely, and who I now owe a lollypop.
  • Horny Geek Girl - Was reporting on the event and wokring with Sheets of SanFrancisco

And well done to everyone who won awards

Mark Gorry Foundation

They are an amazing group of people who give so much of their time to teaching people about testicular cancer. Something that is so easy to treat but men (and women) have no idea what to look for. We love supporting them and they do amazing work.

Check out their website and give something to them, it all helps.

Writing your own erotica

The most important lesson from the article is just get started. You are not going to be great when you start out and that is OK. You don't have to be. Write something you enjoy and take it from there.

I was talking to Quinn this week and she is writing just for herself. Why not.

Go and get your dirth thoughs on paper

This week we are talking about DIY homemade porn based on this weeks article on our blog written by Rebecca from A Couple of Kinks.

This weekend we are at Sexhibition in Manchester, if you are going to be there make sure you say hi.

DIY Porn

Porn has changed, thanks to the Internet not only is it easy to get but it is also now very easy to make. We all have cameras in our pockets that can shoot high quality video and even upload it directly to the Internet if you need to.

With people like the amazing Pandora Blake making their own incredibly successful porn sites like Dreams of Spanking, the field has really opened up to just about anyone who wants to make porn.

If you are going to make your own porn make sure you are prepared for people you know, will see it, and know what you are doing. You shouldn't be asshamed of it. But make sure you are happy for your mum and your friends to know.

Making your own porn

Before you jump into this with your partner make sure you have discussed what you are going to do. It might not be a 5 minute discussion, be prepared for it to take a while (months?) before you can land on something you are both comfortable with.

Be prepared to see into a process that just isn't sexy. Unless you want to have a run and gun style approach where you film it impromptu as it were then you are going to have to deal with things like lighting, camera positions (blocking), audio, props.

There is a lot of skill in filming and one benefit of filming your own porn is you can learn these skills.

I did something

I wrote a piece for EAN called "Is your vibrator spying on you". Based on a talk a pair of DefCon hackers did a few weeks ago on how to hack WeVibe vibrators. Besides the hackers being able to take over the vibrator and control it themselves.

The much more worrying part was how much information WeVibe was collecting from the app and sending back to their data center. Every time the vibe was used or the user changed the settings they were told.

What does the law have to say

Make sure you know what the laws say where you live. You need to make sure you are not breaking the law by making your own films. That goes above and beyond the problems Dreams of Spanking ran into when the UK decided it wanted to moderate the online content being created.

The UK porn laws are surprising

We are actually going to have an article on this very subject very soon but there are somethings that are worth knowing because you can break the law very easily.

Female ejaculation

While it is fine to film male ejaculation as much as you like, as soon as you film female ejaculation you have broken the law in the UK.

Harm

It is OK to see moderate harm committed to a person in a film in the UK, but as soon as it is more than "moderate" then it is illegal. What is more than "moderate", it turns out it can be as little as reddening the skin or leaving marks of any kind.

Again once you have filmed it happening you are in posession of an illegal video. There is a lot more to know about the UK porn laws, so if you are thinking of filming anything in the UK make sure you understand them.

Keeping it for yourself

There are still legal problems even if you keep the video for yourself. But on top of that you need to think about the other person. What happens if later you and this other person fall out? They might be the love of your life right now but they may not be later. Make sure you are both protected.

Revenge porn

One area the UK gets very right is revenge porn. Putting out film of your ex partner without their consent can mean fines and even prison time.

Pay to play sites

If you want to make money from your porn films you can do that as well. The Internet lets you put your films out there for the world to see, and there is going to be a huge group of people who love what you do.

Aug 12, 2016

This weeks podcast is based on this weeks article by Girl on the Net called DIY Sex toys - how to do it yourself (and how not to).

We have all thought about making our own sex toys (some more than others) and there is a whole world of stuff you can do out there from wooden spoons right the way through to getting a kit like one of ours and making something from scratch.

But a word of caution

If you do decide to make your own toys please be careful, you can put things inside you that will take a doctor to get them out, and that really isn't something any of us want.

But if you do want a laugh at some of the things people have put inside themselves then take a look at Radiopedia's Rectal Foreign Bodies page.

We will be at Sexhibition

Sexhbition is the erotic event of the year with a huge show and tons of vendors for you to get all your kinky wears and have a great time.

From Friday 19th to Sunday 21st in Manchester, you can get your tickets here.

We will be there making the mini-flogger for the lovely Sexhibitionists, it will be a lot of fun.

What Scarletteen has to say

Finally we ended with what Scarletteen has to say about DIY sex toys. A great resource for teens and really anyone.

Keep in touch

Thanks for listening, if you want to find us or tell us what you have done with DIY sex toys. Talk to us on twitter or email podcast at kinkcraft dot co

This week we are talking about beautiful burlesque based on the article we had written for us by Molly Moore.

But before that we have some fan mail

Going back to the podcast we did on Camgirls a fan tells us what she gets from watching shows on her own or with her partner. Thank you.

Where does the word Burlesque come from?

Is it just about the little hats? What do you think about when someone says "Burlesque" to you? We think about movement and dance, with comedy and comment thrown in.

The word comes from the Italian word "Burla" meaning joke, ridicule, or mockery. The origin of it as a form goes back to the 16th and 17th century where it was a form of parody theatre.

Nudity wasn't part of Burlesque until America got it's hands on it. It died off as an art around the middle of the 20th century, and was then revived around the 1970's.

Dita von teese

Check out her great book "Burlesque and the art of the teese", only £19.99 on Amazon. Well worth getting, and when you turn it over it's all about fetish.

World burlesque games

Part of the london burlesque festival it actually takes place a number of times a year. It happens over the course of a week, you can check out the audtions over the course of week, then on the Friday and Saturday they have the actual show where the games take place.

It is different every time

They key thing for us is just how varied it is. No two shows are ever the same, even when put on by the same performer every one brings their own take to the art.

In a few weeks we will be at Sexhibition and there is going to be an amazing show. But we are not goign to get to see any of it.

If you get a chance to check out Pyrohex they are worth watching.

If you are looking for a fair and would like some entertainment thrown in then check outAlternative & Burlesque fair.

Fun fact about the Moulin Rouge

Did you know that since 1963 they only put on reviews that start with the letter F. Check out the wikipedia article for more details.

That's the show

Check us out on twitter, or visit the website.

What is Erotic Fan Fiction, put simply it is witting your own story based on the characters or setting of someone has created. This is based on our article by Victoria Blisse.

Is it legal to create your own fan fiction? Turns out that is a tricky question. You need to understand copyright and how it is applied in your country.

Since 1995 Copyright is granted on all creative works up to 70 years after the authors death. At which point it becomes public domain. Before 1956 most content isn't copyrighted at all, but make sure you read the law before you do anything with them.

Some useful articles:

Example: Sherlock Holmes

Correction: Almost entirely in the public domain

Because of a quirk in the copyright law (published before 1956) some of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories have been granted 95 year protections after the author died. That means 10 of the 56 Sherlock Holmes stories (published between 1923 - 1927) are actually still in copyright.

In 2013 this was challenged in a court in the US (and subsequently the US court of appeal) rejected the claim that having 10 stories still in copyright protects the entire character as wrong. It points out that only character traits adding in those final 10 stories is still in copyright, everything else about Sherlock Holmes and his world is public domain.

Sources (Telegraphy, TechDirt)

Where did 50 shades come from?

50 Shades of Gray was originally Twighlight fanfiction. Pixie had trouble seeing how the two of them could be the same characters. But if you change the names, remove the vampire element, you basically have the same story. Older man seduces and controls the innocent young girl and has his wicked way with her (really could be any book).

Trekies introduced me to fanfiction

Correction: I totally forgot they had all the artwork they had both been given as well as the stories that had been created.
